Core training topics

Training delivery can cover a range of topics to suit your needs such as:

Examples of training formats

Training for Schools

Nic has extensive experience delivering training to primary and secondary schools, using both in-person and online formats, including for international institutions. Her sessions are designed to be both practical and engaging, equipping educators with the necessary tools and strategies to support neurodivergent students effectively. Through her training, Nic aims to enhance educators’ understanding of neurodiversity and improve their capacity to create inclusive learning environments.

One notable project is the ASSIST project, which combines teacher training with NeuroBears, offering a comprehensive approach to understanding and supporting autistic students in schools. Nic also enjoys speaking to young people in assemblies about what it’s like to navigate adulthood as an autistic person, providing valuable insights and encouragement.

Neurodivergent Training for Businesses

Nic has provided training for businesses like White House Farm and Arts Connect, helping staff understand and implement inclusion strategies as part of a sensory audit. She has also worked with private nurseries to help them better understand autistic children and develop strong, supportive relationships with their families. Her goal is to ensure that businesses and organisations are equipped to create environments where everyone feels valued and included.

Workshops

Nic runs and is involved in a variety of workshops designed to support families and communities in understanding autism. One such workshop is “Reframing Autism” at Stomping Grounds Forest School. This workshop takes place onsite and supports families in developing a positive understanding of their children’s autism diagnosis. It’s an opportunity for families to connect with each other and explore ways to create a supportive and positive identity for their children.

The Inside of Autism

For over four years, Nic has co-hosted The Inside of Autism with Kieran Rose. This programme delivers neuro-affirming autism training to professionals, parents, and autistic individuals. Nic is proud of the knowledge shared and the strong community that has developed through this work. The programme has facilitated many insightful discussions and quick-fire questions, helping to foster curiosity and knowledge.

National Autism Trainer Programme (NATP)

Nic has been actively engaged with the National Autism Trainer Programme since its inception, providing training across various NHS settings, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in both community and inpatient contexts. She has a particular focus on services for young people and has taken pleasure in contributing to the NATP’s mission to foster positive change among professionals working with autistic individuals within the NHS.
